ROOPA PEMMARAJU

ROOPA PEMMARAJU – SPRING SUMMER 2013/2014

The Roopa Pemmaraju collection is a perfect collaboration of fashion and art, resulting in the creation of a ready-to-wear line of printed garments.

Featuring beautiful prints which are actual artworks transformed into ethically hand-woven, authentic, Indian fabrics, Roopa Pemmaraju is one to explore.

With artworks by renowned Australian Women Indigenous Artists from the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, each design is unique to the artworks behind them.

Indigenous Artists Judy Napangardi Watson and Rowena Nungarrayi Larry had their artworks opening the show in the form of a sleeveless collared shirt and an organza skirt. The following 39 looks continued the beauty of such a cultural label.

Personally, I loved the amount of flowy pieces of the collection, ideal for a weekend away by the beach, or while shopping in a cultural market stall on an overseas trip.  The printed kaftans with v-necks, haltered maxis, draped and off the shoulder dresses are my kind of casual-cool styling.
