KATE SYLVESTER

KATE SYLVESTER – SPRING SUMMER 2013/2014 – “THE LAST SITTING”

In a portrayal of Marilyn Monroe’s intricate, conflicting and alluring life of beauty, Kate Sylvester introduces ‘The Last Sitting’ at MBFWA last night.  An in-depth showcase of the Hollywood bombshell’s transitioning life, from sexy, happy and carefree, to troubled, torn and dark.

Combining the two sides of the life of Marilyn, Kate Sylvester creates a collection of influences, unexpected elements and a strong mix of light and dark attributes.

The light of the collection, reflective of Marilyn’s happiest days is captured in lipstick pink silks, soft creams, swirling white skirts and soft greys. This then starts to transition into beautiful silhouettes of figure-flattering blacks paired with masculine white shirts, mysterious leather and baseball caps. This is reflective of the men in Marilyn’s life and the influence they had on her. This becomes the darker side to the collection, adding in the frayed edges, scattered pearls and dusty roses.

Moving between the shadows of Marilyn Monroe’s bittersweet life, this collection perfectly combines feminine and masculine, sharp and modern with fresh and clean colours and signature prints.
