AUS DAY

It was Australia Day this weekend, yay!

For the international readers, this is a day to celebrate our country, no matter where you are from or what your culture may be, on Australia Day it all comes together and is so much fun.

Below is our Australian flag looking great, styled into Miranda Kerr's Aussie look from last week's Grazia issue.

This year, I celebrated Australia Day, the way most of us do, on the beach. Myself, my boyfriend Moe and a couple of friends celebrated at Milk Beach, Vaucluse.

There was a heap of people, water, boats, great music, hot sun and fruity drinks - One of the best Australia Days I have had :)

I wore my favourite beach dress from One Teaspoon, belt is from a little market stall in Glebe and my sunglasses are from Sportsgirl.

Hope you all enjoyed your Australia Day as much as we did!

Midday Inspiration 

 

MY WARDROBE

My wardrobe was a mess. Last month, I decided to do a Wardrobe Consultation on myself.

This meant going through every one of my tops, jackets, coats, cardigans, basics, casual pants, work pants, jeans, heels, flats, skirts - ALL OF IT. I even went through my accessories from jewellery to bags and scarves, the whole lot.

It felt good to finally cull all the bits that just didn't suit my body anymore, was no longer my style, or had just been sitting in my wardrobe because I used it once on a styling job and never again.

I am now left with a wardrobe of wearable clothes, that suit me and my lifestyle. I have so much more than what I thought I did and so many pieces that are "re-visiting" my style again. It's great finding something you have had for so long, still in good condition and seeing how easily it fits right back in with you clothing or accessories.

You would be surprised at how many outfits are sitting in your wardrobe waiting to be mixed and matched right now. Start clearing out the bits you know you won't wear, or don't fit you anymore. Keep what you love and sell or give the rest to charity.

BRIGHT LACES

I have done hundreds of squats and crunches, morning and night time walks every day this week.... Going to the gym.. not so much. And it's all because I brought new shoes! 

I had been wearing the chunkiest Asics that I have had for 8 years haha! I finally decided I would go and buy a pair of Nike Free Runs in a cool grey and coral colour, to make exercising a little more stylish for myself. 

Exhausted after a work out in my quickly-getting-dark backyard last night, all I could see was my bright coral laces as the sun went down. I took this quick snap to remind myself of how much I am now enjoying my exercises thanks to a new pair of shoes :)

I am in love with my Michael Kors watch - It goes with absolutely everything and I post it all the time because it really is my favourite accessory. I will usually style my accessories around this watch... because sometimes I don't feel completely dressed without it.

OBSESSION

I have noticed a little something new in my styling as of late...

I am wearing SO much black and white! I put it down to my accessories and new handbags I brought too much of during the Boxing Day sales. I just love my accessories and they grab the attention they need with a simple, though timeless, black and white colour palette. 

Always remember, simple doesn't mean boring, and accessories will always be a pick-me-up to a classic look :)

GOLDEN GLOBES MEN 2013

We have seen so many beautiful and intriguing dresses, complimented by the most gorgeous shoes and accessories of the most stylish women at the Golden Globes today. They are all over the social media sites, the internet, and this blog. I can't say I have seen any images of the men who also attended who look nearly as great as the ladies. Awards nights and getting dressed up are definitely for the women!

I had a look around online and these are the men who have been named the "Best Dressed" so far. It seems they are all going for the minimalist black or navy suit paired with a white collared shirt, slim-fit tailoring, and there is an invasion of the bow-tie.

I love the simple black or navy suit, I like the detailing on the collar of Ben Affleck's suit jacket and I like that Leonardo Dicaprio has gone for something a little different with the black buttons that fasten his white shirt. The bow-ties, not so much. I much prefer the more manly looking ties of Edward Pattinson and Kevin Costner.

I would love to see one of the men go for something entirely new at an awards show! I know they are extremely formal events, but it shouldn't mean black, white, boring should it?
